Donegal Town is set in a valley girdled by the Bluestack Mountains and nestling around the Atlantic ocean shore of Donegal Bay.

Donegal is an excellent base where accommodation providers, pubs, restaurants and other local amenities are providing walker/ hiker friendly holiday services including maps, packed lunches, place to leave wet gear, transfers to and from walks and other services.

Donegal is fortunate to have qualified and highly experienced walking/hiking guides most of whom are involved with the Bluestack Ramblers Walking Club.

They will assist you with route finding and trails in any way they can to make your holiday / vacation more enjoyable. Using the art of story telling they will guide you through our rich history and diverse culture and landscape.

Walking Festivals such as the Donegal Bluestacks Walking Festival, held May Bank Holiday & November 19th & 20th.  Donegal Walking Week is held in May annually and new for this year special walking/hiking weekends, offer walkers of all ability a chance to walk side by side with the locals, enjoying the craic and forming life long friendships.
